Womens Soccer Team Continues Their Win Streak

The Blackburn College Womens Soccer Team traveled to Milwaukee this past weekend to play in two non-conference matches against Mount Mary College and Wisconsin Lutheran College. On Saturday the 12th, The Beavers had their first match against Mount Mary at noon. The action started early with Christin Miller (Floyd Central, Ind.) scoring at the 4:04 mark. Quickly after that, Meghan Sykora (Arnold, Mo.) found the back of the net also for the Beavers. Miller, Sykora, and Gabriella Iglesias (Puerto Rico) also put numbers on the board to close the game at 6-0. Christin Miller had a hat-trick during the game (4:04, 17:16, 67:53.) The Beavers  had a total of 47 shots on goal.

On Sunday the 13th, the Beavers went head-to-head with a tough Wisconsin Lutheran team. The game was constantly back and forth and very physical. Blackburn had a total of six fouls and Lutheran with four. Wisconsin Lutheran had the upper hand with more shots on goal (18) while the Beavers had 12. Right before the first half ended, Adriana Darow (Williamsville, Ill.) had a World Cup finish, 18 yards out, off of a corner kick from Meghan Sykora. The Beavers held their own during the second half to pull out the 1-0 win. Jourdin McFarland (Carlinville, Ill.) came up with 11 saves.

Blackburn looks to continue the win streak as they host Berea College on Saturday the 19th at noon. The Beavers record is 3-3.
