The Blackburn College Women`s Soccer Team opened up their 2015 season with a nonconference match against Monmouth College on a blistering hot day. The Beavers put up a tough fight in the first half, coming off with a 0-0 tie going into half time. During the second half, the Beavers struggled offensively only taking four shots throughout the entire game, two of those shots being on frame. Both of those shots came from freshman Christin Miller (Georgetown, Ind.).

With injuries becoming a factor for the Beaver lineup, Monmouth College placed their first goal during the 53rd minute. Ten minutes later they scored their second goal. Jourdin McFarland (Carlinville, Ill.) came up with 17 saves against the Scots. Nine of those saves came during the first half and eight during the second. One minute before the game was over, Monmouth sealed their 3-0 win with a penalty kick.

The Beavers (0-1) look to bounce back this weekend as they travel to Galesburg, Illinois to battle Coe and Knox College in a non-conference match. Start time on Saturday is at noon and start time on Sunday is at 4:00 pm.
