Women's Soccer Collects Conference Win

The Blackburn College Women’s Soccer Team matched up against St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference opponents from Eureka College on Thursday, October 15. It was all Blackburn throughout the entire game. The Beavers possessed the ball much better than the Red Devils of Eureka, which was reflected on the scoreboard. Blackburn won the game by a score of 8-0. The game was halted with 5:04 remaining in the second period due to several injuries leaving Eureka with only six available players.

Blackburn dominated the game in the shots category as they took a total of 37 shots with 22 of those being on goal. Eureka took a total of six shots and two of those were on goal. Goals came quick and often early in the game for Blackburn, who scored six goals in the first period. Freshman Adriana Darow recorded an impressive hat trick (three goals) in the game. Junior Christy Hobbs added two goals and senior Edia Mushundusi, senior Gabriella Iglesias and sophomore Meghan Sykora each tallied one goal in the contest. Sophomore Casey Fellin had an exceptional four assists in the game.

With the conference win, Blackburn moves to 5-8-0 overall on the season and 1-3-0 in conference. The Beavers will be back on the pitch on Saturday, October 17 in a conference match against the Blue Jays of Westminster College. The game is scheduled for 3:00 pm and will be directly after the men’s contest which starts at 1:00 pm.
