Women's Soccer Drops Exhibition Match

The Blackburn College Women's Soccer Team dropped an exhibition match on Saturday morning in Carlinville by a 4-0 score to the Hawks of Heartland Community College.  The match consisted of three thirty minute periods instead of the regular pair of 45 minute halves.

The first period played to a scoreless tie as Heartland out-shot Blackburn 6-1 in an evenly played period for the most part.  In the second thirty minutes, Heartland notched three goals.  Hailee Whitmire scored the first one on an assist from Alysn Fritz.  Chioma Obia scored the first of her two goals at 55:29 of the match from an assist from Katie Druien.  Druien added a goal at 56:42 for the Hawks.

For the match, Blackburn goalkeeper Jourdin McFarland had 17 saves in her first collegiate action at goalkeeper.  Jasmine Tillman had three shots including two on goal for the Beavers.

The Beavers will open their season this Tuesday, September 1st with a non-conference match against the Scots of Monmouth College.
