Blackburn Women's Soccer Defeats Eureka on Senior Day

Blackburn College Women's Soccer Team hosted the Red Devils of Eureka College for a St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference match on Tuesday in Carlinville.  With cool and breezy conditions, Blackburn went to work early on the Red Devils, scoring their first of three goals in the game at the 25:22 mark. Maria Cline scored this first goal, with the assitance of her teammate Brittany Grayson

Blackburn played a very offensive game, rarely allowing the ball to pass midfield into their own territory for a majority of the game. Anicca Mackay-Slavin, who was playing goalkeeper for the Beavers, only had two shots against her, saving both of them. She locked down the goal for the entire game. Offensively, the Beavers laid the pressure on Eureka's goalkeeper, Abby Swope, with a total of 20 shots on goal against her. Layna Broux scored an unassisted goal right before halftime at the 41:24 mark, giving the Beavers a comfortable 2-0 lead going into halftime.

In the second half, the Beavers held their ground and continued to play offensively. Jasmine Tillman scored the final goal for the Beavers at the 78:32 mark, securing the win for the team. Blackburn's dominating offensive performance ensured their victory over Eureka.

With this game, the Blackburn Beavers move to a record of 4-13 overall, and 2-6 in the SLIAC. Their next match is Saturday, October 27th, 2018, at Westminster.
