Blackburn Volleyball Drops Match to Westminster

The Blackburn Beavers lost a conference match against Westminster College on October 25th, 2018, at Blackburn College in Carlinville, Illinois. 

 

The Beavers broke a set-losing streak during this game, winning a set against Westminster for the first time since 2010. The Beavers played a well fought game, but fell short in their three losing sets. Kendall Knop led the Beavers defensively, with 15 digs. Kaitlyn Wiegand followed close behind with eight. 

 

Offensively, the Beavers played well. Lucy Magnussen and had 25 total attacks, leading her team. Emily Shroeder and Kaitlyn Wiegand both had a serve ace in the match. The Beavers had a total of 139 attacks, 49 kills, and 39 digs. 

 

The Beavers started the match off strong, winning the first set against Westminster. Westminster responded by winning the next three sets against the Beavers, securing the win for them. 

 

With this loss, Blackburn moves to an overall record of 7-20, and 6-12 in the SLIAC. Their next match will take place against Lincoln College on October 30th, 2018 at 7:00 p.m., at Blackburn College in Carlinville, Illinois.
