Women's Soccer Falls to Principia on Homecoming

The Blackburn College Women's Soccer Team was unable to find the net in a 4-0 St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference loss to Principia College on Homecoming Saturday in Carlinville.  The Panthers scored their first goal at 8:32 as Sarai Marcano headed in a corner kick from Brittany Ouellette to give the visitors the early 1-0 lead.  Late in the first half Principia made it 2-0 on a goal from Maddie Wann with Madison Arens on the assist. The match went to the half 2-0 in favor of Principia.

In the second half, the Panthers added another pair of goals, at the 53:54 mark Ouellette scored on an assist from Wann then just over four minutes later Marcano scored her second goal on an assist from Wann.

For Blackburn, Anicca Mackay-Slavin recorded seven saves in goal, while Erica Bechtold and Jasmine Tillman got off three shots apiece.  Blackburn was out-shot 22-10 for the match.

The match was the conference opener for both teams as Blackburn moves to 2-8 overall and 0-1 in the SLIAC.  Princpia is 1-6 overall and 1-0 in the league.
