The Blackburn Beavers lost to the Panthers of Principia College 3-0, today. Despite the Beavers getting into position on multiple shots, they were unable to find the back of the net as the Panther defensive backfield, led by Brittany Ouellette (16) stifled the Blackburn finishing opportunities. This game was decided in the midfield where the Panthers' passing proved too much for the Beaver midfielders. Principia was able to keep finding feet in front of the net for scoring chances and, while the Beaver defense held true for the first several shots, eventually got a shot past Morgan Zobrist (0). The shot game off of a good defensive play by Morgan Adams (12) forcing the Panther midfielder Taylan Hayes (8) out of position on the right side of the net and causing Hayes to pass the ball back into traffic in the center of the box. However, the ball deflected to the feet of Viviane DeCastro (9) who buried it in the right upper 90. DeCastro would finish the day with three shots on goal, a goal, and an assist off the bench for Principia. The Panthers would go on to score two more goals, both off the right leg of Sophia Hathaway (23). Hathaway led the Panthers with game highs in shots (7), shots on goal (4), and goals (2).

The Beavers were led offensively by Tess Saathoff (10) who tied Morgan Adams (12) for a team high in shots (4) but Saathoff led the Beavers in shots on goal with three. In the defensive end, the Beaver back line played well, led by Morgan Adams (12), Madison Toennies (16), and Morgan Zobrist (0). Adams and Toennies forced the Panthers out of position to shoot on a regular basis. Zobrist, although having three goals charged against her, played well and stopped several highly difficult shots from getting by her. Zobrist would finish the day with six saves against nine shots on goal.

Blackburn is now 3-8 overall and 1-3 in the SLIAC but they look to rebound on the road against Fontbonne in their next conference matchup on Tuesday at 8 pm.
