Blackburn Women's Soccer Celebrates four Seniors

Blackburn Women's Soccer Team was defeated by the score of 2-0 on Saturday November 2nd in Carlinville, Illinois. It was Senior Day for the Women's Soccer Team as four seniors were recognized, Morgan Adams, Erica Bechtold, Maria Cline, and Brittany Grayson.

 

Morgan Adams has played three seasons playing in 48 games and started in 47 games. Adams has served as a team captain for two years. She is credited with five career goals and three assist.

 

Erica Bechtold will be graduating this year after only three years. She has played all three years and has played in 50 games and starting in 49. Bechtold has scored one goal and is credited with two assists.

 

Maria Cline participated for three seasons in 48 matches and started in 47 of those games. Cline has 215 saves as a goalie. In the field she has three goals and three assists.

 

Brittany Grayson was part of the soccer team for four seasons participating in 25 games and starting in ten games. She scored one goal and credited with two assists.

 

  • Spalding outshot Blackburn 28-4.  The Golden Eagles were led by Dori Emig, who had six shots and one goal.
  • Kelsie Huffman scored on a penalty kick in the 23rd minute.
  • Morgan Zobrist allowed two goals and 14 saves for the Beavers.

 

 

The Beavers finish the season 4-12 (2-7 SLIAC) which is good for 8th in conference. Blackburn tied their win total from last year, but improved on their goal total from 15 to 19. The Beavers are losing four key players as all of them have started at some point this year. Blackburn will return a talented young core as six freshmen started a game this year.
