Bio

Director of Soccer Josh Oswald and Head Women's Soccer Coach Andy Arterburn has named former Blackburn College Women's Soccer standout Sophia King as the new women's soccer team Assistant Coach. King enters her first season on the staff in 2025.

"I appreciate the opportunity to rejoin Blackburn Women's Soccer in a coaching capacity and look forward to working with the team and fellow coaching staff," King said. "I hope to share the insight I gained as a former Blackburn player and help to build the program."

King appeared in 57 matches during her career at Blackburn and made 56 starts in total. She finished her career with nine goals and two assists. During the 2022 season, she led the Beavers in goals and was second on the team in 2023.

The four-year letterwinner played an integral part to the programs growth as she helped the squad rise from a scoreless 2020-21 COVID-19 shortened season to the 2023 team posting the team's best winning percentage since the 2011 season.

"We are excited to have Sophia join our team," said Arterburn. "As an alum and four-year player here she brings great knowledge about the school and program and will be a key part to building our success."

In addition to her role as assistant coach, King also works in the Financial Aid office.
