Another volleyball season came to an end Tuesday evening as Blackburn hosted SLIAC rival Greenville College on senior night.· The Beavers were defeated by Greenville by scores of 25-17, 25-22, and 25-16.·
The first set featured a back and forth contest with Blackburn holding the lead late, until a surge by Greenville ended the Beavers hopes by a score of 25-17.· The second set was even more competitive as a nail biter ensued when Blackburn sparked several rallies late to put the pressure on Greenville.·Greenville eventually pulled away taking the second·set by a score of 25-22.· Blackburn held an early lead in the third set until Greenville put up four straight service points to put the score at 8-5.· Greenvillle maintained the lead for the remainder of the set winning 25-16
Seniors·Caitlyn Beaird and Renee Young played their final collegiate volleyball match as well.· Caitlyn (Astoria, Ill), has played in 94 matches and has accumulated 216 kills, 22 assists, 283 digs, and 19 service aces.· Renee (Carlinville, Ill) played in 92 matches and has accumulated 307 kills, 21 assists, 106 digs, 43 service aces, and 178 blocks.
