Blackburn Beavers fall to Webster Gorloks

On September 27th, The Blackburn College Volleyball Team took on Webster University in a St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conferernce match. Despite the continuous effort, the Beavers fell short to the Gorloks in three sets by the scores 25-15, 28-26 and 25-14.

In the first set, the Beavers came out ready to play and never became discouraged by the score. In the second set the Beavers had set point in their advantage but lost the point due to a serving error which resulted in the back and forth battle for the final. In the third set it was all Gorloks as they finished the three set sweep.

The Webster Gorloks approach was very aggressive and fast paced. Maria Cline led the women tonight with 29 out of the 85 Blackburn digs. Alanni Young led the Beavers with 10 out of their 25 kills.

The Blackburn Beavers are back in action taking on Robert Morris-Springfield on Saturday Oct the 1st at 2 p.m. in Carlinville as part of homecoming weekend.
