Volleyball Falls in Five Sets to Iowa Wesleyan

The Blackburn College Volleyball Team lost a tough five set St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conferernce match to Iowa Wesleyan University on Friday night in Carlinville.  Iowa Wesleyan claimed the match by scores of 25-27, 25-13, 25-21, 21-25, and 15-12.

Iowa Wesleyan scored nine of the final ten points in the deciding fifth set.  Alanni Young led Blackburn with 15 kills on the night.  Shelsie Timmermeier added eight kills and Marlee Lindstrom led the Beavers with 33 digs.

The heavy humidity made for a long match as the officials repeatedly had to halt the match to dry the floor.  The Dawes Gymnasium was sweltering at the beginning of the match.

Blackburn is now 1-9 overall and 0-3 in the SLIAC while Iowa Wesleyan improves to 3-2 and 2-1 in league play.

The Beavers are back in action tomorrow for a pair of matches at Principia College.
