Beavers Dominate Home Finale

On November 1st, the Blackburn Women's volleyball team played their final match of the 2017 season against the Harris-Stowe State University Hornets.  Before the game, Alexis Dick and Delanie Casto were honored as Seniors for the Volleyball team.  Coming off a win last Friday against Eureka College, the Beavers looked to end the season on a good note, and did they.  The Beavers won the match 3-0 giving the Hornets no chances to come back in the match.

Blackburn won the first set by a score of 25-19.  With eleven kills in the first set the Beavers looked to be on the attack as they headed into the second set and won 25-18.  Blackburn won the third set by a score of 25-15.  

Leading the way for the Beavers in kills was Kaitlyn Wiegand with 20 kills.  Jensen Ballinger lead the team in assists with 13, and leading the team in digs was Alexis Dick with ten digs.  The Beavers recorded 33 kills as a team.  

Leading the way for the Hornets in kills was Miaya Peacock with 8.  Kennedy Netters led the Hornets in assists with 21, and leading the team in digs was Niya Jenkins and Miaya Peacock with seven digs apiece.  

Blackburn finished the season 9-19 and 5-13 in conference play, this is the most wins Blackburn volleyball has had since 2000.
