Volleyball Loses Very Competitive Match to Webster

The Blackburn College Volleyball Team showed great improvement from the last time they faced conference foe Webster University just twelve days ago. After being handled easily at Webster, the Beavers battled but fell tonight in Carlinville by scores of 25-22, 25-21 and 25-19 as each set was competitive.  Freshman Lucy Magnussen led the way with a season-high nine kills to pace Blackburn.  Kaitlyn Wiegand added seven kills and Alanni Young six as the Beavers fall to 5-18 and 5-10 in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.  

Webster, which came into tonight as co-leaders in the league improve to 15-7 overall and 13-2 in the SLIAC. The Gorloks were led by Torie Grassi who recorded a game-high ten kills.

Blackburn still has three conference matches as the Beavers strive for a sixth conference win for the first time since 2008.
