Volleyball Falls in Three Sets to Illinois College

The Blackburn College Volleyball Team lost a non-conference volleyball match to Illinois College by the scores of 25-21, 25-14, and 25-19 on Tuesday night in Carlinville.

 

The Beavers played hard as a team, but fell short in all three  sets. The Beavers had many players play well contributing multiple kills to the team. Lucy Magnussen lead the team in total kills with eight, followed up by Shelsie Timmermeier, who had seven. 

 

Each rally was exciting and suspenseful, with each team fighting hard for each point. Illinois College had 35 kills and 87 total attacks that allowed them to secure the win. Ali Pankey and Cheyanne Jockisch led their team in digs, with Pankey having 12 and Jockisch 13. Madison Klanke led her team in kills with ten0. Illinois College had a four-point rally in the 3rd set that secured them the win.

 

Annika Ochs of Blackburn College led her team defensively, with ten digs of the team's total of 38. Lucy Magnussen and Emily Schroeder led the Beavers offensively. Magnussen had two service aces, and Schroeder had one. With this loss, the Beavers now have a record of 4-12 overall. Illinois College finishes this game with a record of 13-3.
