Volleyball Powers Through Opening Set Loss To Win Over Principia

The Blackburn Volleyball team won their conference match against the visiting Principia College Panthers, on October 1st, 2019. The game took place at Blackburn College in Carlinville, Illinois. Blackburn took the match by a score of 3-1. 

 

  • After losing the opening set, the Beavers went on to win the next three sets consecutively. 
  • Blackburn had 146 total attacks. Freshman Elizabeth Bowyer led the team with 32.
  • Sophomore Lucy Magnussen led the team with 14 kills. Bowyer followed right behind with thirteen.
  • Freshman Autumn Wilson had 21 digs, and freshman Amanda Swedberg had thirteen.
  • Devon Marunde had 32 assists for the Panthers.
  • Jessica Bayne led the Panthers in kills, tallying 15. 
  • Defensively, both Nikki Matters and Devon Marunde totaled 14 digs for the Panthers.

 

Following the results of this match, Blackburn is now 3-11 on the season, and 3-4 in the SLIAC. The team's next match will take place on Thursday, October 3rd, 2019. The match will be against Greenville University, and will be played at Greenville, starting at 7:00 p.m.
