Senior pitcher Jonathan Stepp pitched eight fantastic innings on Friday, April 26th, 2019, allowing Blackburn to win the game in the bottom of the 14 inning game. The game originally started on Sunday, April 7th, 2019, at Derby City Field in Louisville, Kentucky. However, due to inclement weather, the game was suspended in the top of the 7th inning, and resumed at Blackburn College on the 26th. 

In the first six innings of the game, which took place in Louisville, senior Dalton Fisher led the Beavers by throwing a strong six innings. He allowed five hits, and only one earned run. In the top of the fifth inning, Bryce Spalding took the lead for the Eagles by homering to left field. The Eagles went into the bottom of the fifth with a one run lead, and the Beavers quickly evened things up in the bottom of the sixth. After getting the bases loaded, sophomore Steven Diaz reached on a fielder's choice, allowing Stepp to score. After the bottom of the sixth, the score was 1-1. Rain moved into the area, delaying the game. After consideration from both teams, the game was decided to be moved to Blackburn.

The game resumed in the top of the seventh. Senior Jonathan Stepp came in to pitch for the Beavers, making quick work of the Eagles. He rapidly got three outs in the top of the seventh, but the Eagles pitching by Dillon Sievert prevented the Beavers from scoring any runs. The game was tense with both teams standing strong on defense, allowing no hits and keeping runners restricted to their bases. In the bottom of the twelfth inning, the Beavers managed to get the bases loaded with no outs, but the strong defense of the Eagles allowed no runs to be scored by the Beavers. With momentum going into the 13th inning, the Eagles continued to be shut down by the impressive pitching of Stepp. Stepp would return for his final inning of pitching at Blackburn College in the top of the 14th inning. He forced all three batters that he faced that inning to get out. As Stepp walked off the field for the last time, the life in the Blackburn dugout erupted. After one out in the bottom of the 14th inning, sophomore Emmet Black singled into left field. Freshman Trevor Platt approached the plate and hit a ground ball into the gap between shortstop and third base, and after a backhanded play by the shortstop, the ball was thrown away into right field. Platt advanced to second on the throw, and the wild throw allowed Black to round third and score the game winning run for the Beavers. The final score was 2-1. Stepp earned the win for the Beavers, allowing just one hit in his eight innings pitched. He also allowed no earned runs, and struck out eight while walking just four. Dillon Sievert took the loss for the Eagles, allowing ten hits and striking out nine.

With this win, the Beavers have moved to a record of 8-25 overall, and 6-13 in the SLIAC. The Beavers will play the first of a three game series against MacMurray on Saturday, April 27th, 2019, at MacMurray College. The game time is set for 1 p.m.
