Blackburn Puts on a Strong second half to defeat Iowa Wesleyan

Karson Hayes (Little Rock, Arkansas / John L McClellan) scored 25 points; Duncan King (Peoria, Illinois / Richwoods) added 15, as Blackburn pulled away in the second half to defeat a hard-hitting Iowa Wesleyan squad 71-55 Wednesday night.

Raushaun Amos (St. Louis, Missouri / Soldan) chipped in five points, eight rebounds, five assists, and five steals as the Beavers (5-7) shot 45.7 percent in the second half to finish with their first victory after losing two in a row.

Jake Neubauer scored 18 points and Alberto Torres added 17 off the bench to lead Iowa Wesleyan (3-9). The Tigers were held to 31.1 percent shooting, managing to make just 3 of 18 free throws.

Leading 28-26 at halftime, BC started the second half strong as they would end up gaining an 11-point lead with 9:37 remaining. After going on an 11-2 run ignited by a 3-point shot from King, BC’s lead would reach 20 with just under seven minutes left.

Blackburn would retain their strong lead to finish the game winning by 16, with the final score being 71-55.

This was the first meeting between these two schools.
