Connor Vincent had 24 points and Logan Dorethy had 18 in an impressive offensive effort by MacMurray, which rolled to a 100-81 victory over Blackburn on Wednesday night. 

The game served as Blackburn’s first conference game for the season.

The Beavers, who are now 2-3 on the season, were led in scoring by freshman guard Chanz Aldridge (Hillside, Illinois / St. Joseph's) team-high 13 points off the bench. Aldridge, who connected on 4 of 8 shots from the floor in 11 minutes of action, led five Beavers in double-figure scoring.

MacMurray (now 3-1) hit 38 of 53 (71.7 percent) from the floor, including 9 of 11 (81.8 percent) from three-point range, while sharing the ball well with 26 assists to Blackburn’s 15. The Highlander’s also won the battle on the boards decisively 36-19.

Blackburn hit 28 of 63 (44.4 percent) from the floor, making 13 of 31 (41.9 percent) from behind the arc. The Beavers were able to convert 12 of their 16 free throws, for 75.0 percent shooting from the line.

Blackburn started the first half off competitively as the score was close with only a 3-point lead in MacMurray’s favor at 16:27. The Highlander’s lead would slowly increase in large part due to the stellar play from star sophomore guard Connor Vincent throughout the half reaching 21 points by the six and a half minute mark. Blackburn would then go into halftime down 60-35.

The second half would go on to be much of the same as the MacMurray lead extended to 30-points by the 13:37 mark. However, the Beavers would go on to outscore their opponent 46-40 though, their second-half effort but it was another case of bad timing. The ball was held through the final buzzer with the final score being 100-81 to MacMurray.
