Karson Hayes Named to First Team All-Conference

Blackburn College Junior Guard Karson Hayes was named to the first-team St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference All-Conference Team for the 2018-19 season.  Hayes led the Beavers in scoring with a 19.5 points per game average.  The Little Rock, Arkansas (John L. McClellan HS) native, scored in double figures in all but two contests during the season.  His high scoring game was a 36 point outburst against DePauw University early in the season. Hayes was the third leading scorer in the conference and was tied for second with teammate Raushaun Amos for three-point field goal percentage at 43 percent.

"We are really proud of Karson Hayes being selected 1st team All-Conference. He has put in a tremendous amount of work and he has absolutely earned the right to be called one of the best players in the SLIAC. Karson was selected 3rd team as a Sophomore and immediately after that he stated to me that he wanted to be a completely different player the following year. He put the work in and continued to improve and earned himself a 1st team selection. I know Karson will not settle with that and will put even more work in to make himself an even better all around player and teammate going forward. He is a special player and we are very happy to have him representing our institution and our program, said Blackburn Head Coach Steve Kollar.

Amos, also a junior guard was named to the all-conference third team.  The St. Louis, Missouri (Soldan HS) native averaged 12.5 points per game and led the Beavers with 76 three-point field goals made.  Amos' game-high in points was 22 points which he did twice during the season.  Amos and Hayes tied for the team lead in steals with 35.

"Raushaun added so much to our program this year in his very first year with us. Right from the start you could tell Raushaun was going to be a vocal leader in this program. He is a guy that does everything right and is a fierce competitor. He is a great teammate and that is definitely the reason that he was able to get acclimated so quickly with his teammates. It was all about his ability to build trust in the relationships with his teammates and get on the same page with them. He is very talented and is extremely coachable, and will no doubt be even better next year," said Kollar
