Beavers Complete Season Sweep of Highlanders

Blackburn Men's Basketball won a St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference matchup against MacMurray College on Wednesday night in Jacksonville. The Beavers won by the score of 88 to 65.

 

With this victory, the Beavers have won four conference games in a row, which is the first time since the 2015-2016 season. Blackburn currently sits in third place in the SLIAC standings and just one game behind Greenville.

 

Blackburn started the game on a 16 to six run and never looked back. The Beavers never trailed in this game, as their defense was spectacular as they forced 19 turnovers. The turnovers turned into points, as the Beavers scored 30 points off of turnovers. Blackburn's offense was on display ad they were 52 percent from the field compared to MacMurray's 40 percent.  

 

Blackburn was led by Senior Guard Nigel Ferrell, who recorded 26 points, shooting 11 of 16 from the floor and grabbed eight rebounds. Sophomore guard Chanz Aldridge came off the bench and followed with 16 points, 4 of 6 from beyond the arc. Junior Guard Javon Stovall also came off the bench and scored 15 points and grabbed five rebounds.

 

MacMurray was led by Trevor Voss credited with 19 points, seven of 14 from the field and recorded five rebounds. Elijah Powell came off the bench following with eleven points and dished out five assists.  

 

Blackburn improves to 11-11 (SLIAC 10-5), the Highlanders fall to 7-17 (SLIAC 5-10).
