Men's Basketball Loses to Greenville

The Blackburn College Men's Basketball team lost a St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference matchup to Greenville University on Saturday night. The game took place at Greenville University in Greenville, Illinois. Greenville took the game by a final score of 134-122.

 

Offensively, senior guard Karson Hayes led Blackburn with 32 total points. He was 11-18 on field goals, and 10-11 on free throws. Nigel Ferrel and Javon Stovall each had 20 points. Ferrel, in addition to Bryson Kirby and Christian Wagner, each also had seven assists. Overall, the team was 53-81 on field goals, and one of three on 3-pointers. 

Defensively, Blackburn was led in rebounds by Christian Wagner, who had ten. Randy Love finished close behind him with eight. Wagner and Ferrel both also had four steals, which led to additional points for Blackburn. David Lopez also tallied three steals of his own.

 

Despite Blackburn's defensive efforts, Greenville was able to out-score them. Greenville's Eric Williams led the offense with 25 total points. He was 11-18 on field goals, and one for three on 3-pointers. He was also two for three on free throws. Sontiago Grady finished with 18 points, the second most on the team. Riley Simmons had 17 of his own. Greenville was 53-99 on field goals, and 17-43 on three-pointers. 

 

With this game, Blackburn is now 5-10 overall, and 4-4 in the SLIAC. Their next game will take place on Wednesday, January 22nd against Webster. The Beavers will look to bounce back at home as Webster will be traveling to Carlinville for the game. It will start at 7:30 p.m.
