Beavers Complete Season Sweep

The Blackburn Men's Basketball Team won their St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference matchup against the Iowa Wesleyan Tigers on Wednesday night. The game took place at Iowa Wesleyan University, and the Beavers won by the score of 75 to 59.

 

Blackburn outshot the Tigers from the field 52 percent to 37 percent and 44 percent to 29 percent from beyond the arc. The consistent offense of the Beavers led to a 16-point victory.

 

The Tigers gained an early six to zero lead but was short-lived as Blackburn went on a twelve to two run to lead twelve to eight. After a few baskets the Tigers regained the lead and were up 19 to 17 with 8:42 left in the half. The Beavers took a 20 to 19 lead over as Christian Wagner scored a lay-up with 7:08 left in the half. Blackburn finsihed the half strong and were up 41 to 30 at halftime. Karson Hayes and Javon Stovall with seven points each to lead the Beavers at halftime.

 

 Blackburn continued to shoot well, which led to the lead expanding. With Blackburn leading 50 to 38 the Beavers went on a ten to two run and lead 60 to 40.  With 5:20 left in regulation the Beavers were up 74 to 47, which was the largest lead of the night. Blackburn never looked back and won 75 to 59.

 

Hayes lead the beavers with thirteen points off of eight shots from the field and three rebounds.  Chanz Aldridge followed with twelve points, five rebounds and three assists off the bench. Javon Stovall also came off the bench recording eleven points he was five of seven from the floor and credited with two assists.
