Beavers Cannot Overcome Fast Start by Webster in Road Loss

The Blackburn College Men's Basketball Team suffered through a poor night of shooting and an early 19-4 deficit and couldn't overcome those issues as they fell 77-58 in St. Louis Intercollegiate action on Wednesday night in St. Louis to Webster University.  Blackburn which relies on some of the best shooting in the conference were doomed by 4 of 23 shooting from behind the three-point line and just 8 of 17 from the foul line to prevent any chance of a comeback from the early deficit.

Nigel Ferrell was the lone offensive bright spot as he scored 16 points to lead Blackburn.  Ferrell was 7 of 10 from the field.  Karson Hayes was held to just eleven points and David Lopez had ten points to join Ferrell in double figures.  Webster had four players in double figures and out-rebounded Blackburn 43-32.  Both teams took care of the ball as Blackburn only had ten turnovers to just seven for Webster.

As the first half of the conference season winds down this weekend, Webster grabs a big home win to move to 6-1 in league play while the Beavers are now 4-3 and are on the road again Saturday at Greenville University, in another top of the league standings contest.
