Beavers Visit Webster

WEBSTER GROVES, MO -- The Blackburn Men's Basketball team traveled to Webster University on Wednesday afternoon. The Beavers fell short to the Gorloks, 71-58.
Sophomore Odis Grissom was the top scorer for the team with 17 points. Junior Nick Cook was right behind him with 16 points. Sophomore Ayson McLuskie got three assists. McLuskie and Cook both had the most rebounds at seven each, and junior Darius Duff was right behind them with five.
The Gorloks took control quickly in the first half. Webster had 13 points on the Beavers almost six minutes into the game. Cook started off the scoring by sinking a three pointer, followed by a made layup, putting five points on the board for the Beavers. However, Blackburn was falling behind and had to come back from a 31-14 deficit. Duff, Grissom and Cook all put in layups and jump shots to bring the Beavers back up, along with one made three pointer each by Grissom and sophomore Kameron Hanvey. The Beavers were in the lead by halftime with a score of 34-33.
In the second half, scoring went back and forth between the Gorloks and the Beavers. However, Webster began to outscore Blackburn, making it difficult to catch up. Webster maintained their big lead and beat the Beavers with a final score of 71-58.
The Beavers will travel to Principia College for their next and final match of the season on Saturday afternoon.
