Men's Basketball Drops Pair of Games on Texas Trip

The Blackburn College Men's Basketball Team spent the week after Christmas taking on two non-conference opponents in the state of Texas.  The Beavers dropped both of their contests.  On December 28 the Beavers fell behind East Texas Baptist 41-23 at halftime on the way to a 88-69 loss.

Karson Hayes erupted for 38 points to try and keep the Beavers in the contest but only Jason Stovall joined him in double figures as Stovall scored ten points.

Blackburn committed 22 turnovers in the contest and shot just 30 percent from three point range.

Hayes was the story for the Beavers as he was 12 of 19 from the field and 7 of 14 from behind the arc.

Then on Sunday the Beavers dropped a 83-69 decision to the University of Texas at Dallas. Hayes led Blackburn again with 18 points.  Bryson Kirby added 17 and Christian Wagner 10 to join Hayes in double figures.  Rebounding was the problem at UT-Dallas won the battle on the boards by a 47-30 margin.

Blackburn played the second half even at 40-40 but were not able to cut into the Comets lead during the final 20 minutes.

The Beavers are now 3-7 on the season and will return to Carlinville to host Iowa Wesleyan University on January 4th as Blackburn resumes the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference schedule.
