Harper Stays Hot, Earns Medalist Honors as Beavers Finish Second as a Team

On Monday, October 8th, the Blackburn Men's and Women's golf programs traveled to Jacksonville to play in the MacMurray Fall Invitational.  With extreme windy conditions on a links style course, it was going to be a battle for the Beavers mentally to stay on top of there game. With 4 teams and around 40 participants in the event, the Beavers men's team came out in second place with a team score of 329.

Leading the charge for the Beavers was Anthony Harper who won the tournament after two playoff holes (par-par)with a score of 76. Matt Kinsella was close behind with a 77. Rounding out the team score was Isaac Garrett with an 86 and Thomas White with a 90.

"Mentally coming into this tournament I was struggling a bit. But I put all of that aside and really focused out there and found a way to get things done.  It was a tough day with the wind the way it was, I'm proud of my teammates for battling it out on the course today."

As for the women's competitors, the Beavers took two individuals to the tournament, Baylee Hughes who shot 108 and Halle Franson who shot a 132.

The Beavers close out the season on a good note as they look forward to the spring season.
