Two Late Goals Not Enough As Comeback Falls Short

CARLINVILLE, IL -- Blackburn College Men's Soccer scored two goals late in the second half to pull within one goal, but the Beavers were unable to get one more in the net as they fell to Millikin University 4-3 in nonconference action.
Millikin scored the first goal as they scored just five minutes into the match but sophomore Grant Eugea tied it in the 10th minute. Freshman Nathan Soto received a pass from midfield and got the ball on the right side just outside the box. He was able to find Eugea in the middle of the box who was able to blast the ball past the Millikin goalkeeper to make it 1-1.
The teams remained tied for the remainder of the first half and early into the second half until Millikin was able to score three goals in the middle of the second half.
Blackburn inched closer in the 76th minute. Senior Henry Ibarguen-Londono took a corner kick from the right corner and placed it into box, finding freshman Antonio Baca who put the ball right into the net to make it 4-2.
Minutes later, Soto was fouled in the box giving him a penalty kick that he put past the Big Blue goalkeeper and pulled BC within 4-3. However, Blackburn was unable to put another in the net, ultimately falling 4-3.
The Beavers will stay on the home field and opens St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action Saturday when they host Greenville College.
