Women's Basketball falls to North Park

On a very cold afternoon in Carlinville, the Blackburn Women's Basketball team faced a non-conference opponent in North Park University.  The Beavers found themselves down early as North Park jumped out to a quick lead by scoring fourteen points before Blackburn was able to score its first point of the game off of a Halle Engel made free throw with only 1:33 remaining in the first quarter.

Coming into the second quarter the North Park Vikings caught fire again separating themselves from the Beavers.  Blackburn was outscored 22-10 in the second quarter.  Heading into halftime the Beavers knew something needed to be done.  Coming out of halftime the Beavers found a way to defend the tall North Park Vikings as the Beavers only limited the Vikings to 15 points in the third quarter.  Heading into the fourth quarter the Beavers had found their confidence and managed to outscore the Vikings 14-9.  But the damage had been done the Blackburn Beavers lost to the North Park Vikings by a final score of 63-36.

The Beavers next game will take place on Dec.  30, at Illinois College.  Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 pm.  The next home game will take place on Jan. 2, at 6:00 pm, against Webster University.
