Pollock Leads Blackburn to Conference Road Win

Sophomore guard Candace Pollock knocked down seven three-point field goals to lead the Beavers to a 63-54 St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference road victory over Principia College Tuesday night in Elsah.

After trailing 29-28 at halftime the Beavers out-scored the Panthers in both the third and fourth quarters to gain their second victory of the season.  Pollock led all scorers with 21 points while fellow guard Danae Smith joined her in double figures with 13 points. Freshman forward Gariel Pierce grabbed ten rebounds to lead Blackburn.

"The team competed and got through a rocky 1st quarter where we struggled on the offensive end. Down the stretch in the second half we were able to execute offensively, knock down some key three-pointers and get to the free throw line. Our aggressiveness in the second half was key to a great conference win for us tonight," said Blackburn Coach Katie Fonseca.
The Beavers will travel to Fulton, Missouri on Saturday to take on the Blue Jays of Westminster College, tipoff is at 1:00 p.m.
