Blackburn Topped by Eureka

Blackburn Topped by Eureka

What could have been the biggest upset of the season quickly turned into a nightmare for Blackburn Women's Basketball on Saturday night.

The women travelled to Eureka, who are first within the conference with a record of 8-0 now. The women were excited to take on the number one seed, but the excitement didn't last.

Within the first minute of the game, Hayley Reneau drained two three pointers, giving the immediate lead to Eureka. The Beavers tried hard to come back and give Eureka a good fight, but nothing seemed to want to go right for them. The Beavers ended up losing the game, with a  final score of 32-84.

Reneau ended up being the lead scorer for Eureka, with 19 points, and teammate Abigail Hilton had ten rebounds. For the Beavers, Brooke Meyer and Alexia Duncan each had seven points. Elisabeth Johnston had six rebounds and Jordan Wood followed closely behind with five rebounds on her own.

The next time the women play will be at Iowa Wesleyan on Wednesday, January 25th, with tip off at 6 pm
