Beavers Fall in Home Matchup

The Blackburn Women's Basketball Team lost a St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference matchup against Fontbonne University Wednesday night.

 

                Fontbonne grabbed an early lead and never looked back, as they led the whole game. The Griffin's dominated the boards as they out-rebounded Blackburn 36-28.  Fontbonne collected 16 offensive rebounds, which helped them extend their lead. Blackburn was defeated 80 to 56.

 

For the Beavers, Savannah Kruse led Blackburn with 22 points, which were all in the second half. 19 of those points were in the fourth quarter. Kruse had five field goals, three 3-pointers, and nine free throws. Kruse also grabbed six rebounds. Jenna Dudra followed with ten points of her own and four rebounds.  Callista Francis recorded ten points off the bench, as she was perfect from the floor 5 of 5 and collected six rebounds.

 

The Griffins spread the ball around as they had four players in double-digits. Raven Venegas led Fontbonne with 14 points and ten rebounds. Kourtney White had recorded thirteen points off seven shots. Rylee Stafford and Jillian Venegas each had eleven points for the Griffins.   

 

 

Blackburn falls to 4-13 (2-9 SLIAC) and Fontbonne improves to 10-8 (9-2 SLIAC). The Beavers will host Principia College this Saturday at 1:00 P.M.
