Beavers Fall to Lady Blues

Beavers Fall to Lady Blues

On September 21st, the Beavers took on the Lady Blues from Illinois College for a non-conference home match. Despite the continuous fight, the women fell short and lost in three sets to the Lady Blues.

In the first set, the Beavers came out ready to fight and proved that they were ready to get scrappy. From the first set to the third set, the women never once gave up on a play. They hustled to reach shanked balls and dove to pop a ball just out of reach.

The Lady Blues continuously switched up their approaches from hard swung hits to lightly placed tips, but this didn't discourage the Beavers. Marlee Lindstrom led the women tonight with 20 of the teams' 59 digs. Lindstrom was seen all over the court as she read each and every hit from Illinois College and dove to make sure she got the ball up for the Beavers to keep the ball in play.

Despite the great hustle and scrappy work from the ladies tonight, it just wasn't enough. The final scores of the sets were 25-18, 25-11, and 25-19. After this game, Blackburn's record is at 1-12 overall, and 0-5 in the SLIAC Conference.

The next time the women play will be Saturday, September 24th, at Eureka College where the women will take on MacMurray at 10 am and Eureka at 2 pm.
