Blackburn College Freshman Defensive Specialist Amanda Swedberg was named the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week.  Swedberg had a pair of matches with at least 20 digs as the Beavers won a pair of conference matches last week.  Swedberg had 24 digs in a loss at Westminster last Saturday.  Swedberg, from Sycamore, Illinois, also had five service aces the past week.  

"Amanda has consistently been strong on defense and serve receive all season," said Blackburn coach Morgan Hauser.  "She has taken a leadership role in the backcourt and that is impressive, especially since it's her first collegiate season," added Hauser.

Swedberg leads the Beavers with 329 digs on the season for an average of 4.22 digs per set.  Her 329 digs are currently fifth in the conference.
