Blackburn Volleyball Defeats Harris Stowe
ST. LOUIS, MO -- Blackburn College Volleyball defeated Harris Stowe University Tuesday night for the team's first victory of the season. The Beavers defeated the Hornets 3-0, winning 26-24, 25-21 and 25-11.

Senior Cara Pence finished the match with a team-best eight kills and four aces while junior Zoe Mitchell tallied seven kills. Sophomore Kenadee Frey notched 25 assists and had four kills.
Sophomore Bailey Bennett led the defense with 22 digs. Junior Payton Moeglin chipped in with 14 and Frey had 12.
In the first set, Frey had the set-winning kill to follow a Hornet error to break a 24-24 tie and win the set 26-24. The second set saw a 20-20 before Moeglin served for three-straight points, including an ace and a Pence kill. A Harris Stowe error sealed the set win for Blackburn.
The Beavers broke a 7-7 tie in the third set with a 9-0 run to push Blackburn ahead 16-7. Harris Stowe managed to get the score to 19-10, but BC responded by closing out the match with a 6-1 run to win the set 25-11 and win the match 3-0.
Blackburn will return home to host Lyon College in St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action Thursday and Friday.
