Blackburn Athletics Invites Former Female Athletes to Help Celebrate National Girls & Women in Sports Day

CARLINVILLE, IL – Blackburn College and the Blackburn College Athletics Department invites all female Blackburn alumnae back to campus to help celebrate National Girls & Women in Sports Day as part of the women's basketball team's game on February 3.

National Girls & Women in Sports Day, powered by the Women's Sports Foundation, raises awareness and acts as a reminder of the positive impact of sports and the continued need to promote gender equality in athletics. The day also is a celebration of the progress that has been made since Title IX was passed in 1972 while acknowledging the work still to be done to attain true equality in sport.

The day will begin with appetizers and a cash bar from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. in the Edwin and Claire Jaenke Alumni Center. All alumnae in attendance will then be recognized during halftime of the the women's basketball game.
