CARLINVILLE, IL -- Blackburn College athletics hosts four basketball games while the track teams head to the Jim Green Invitational for this week's action. 

Thursday, February 1, will see the men's and women's basketball teams host new St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference member Mississippi University for Women. In partnership with the Black Student Union, the games will help celebrate Diversity and Inclusion and helps kick off Black History Month. During halftime, there will be a student speaker, and the first 50 students to the games will receive a free t-shirt. The women's game at 5:30 with the men's game starting 30 minutes after the conclusion of the women's game. The first 50 student count begins with the women's game and continues througout the men's game. 

The basketball teams return to action Saturday to host another new conference school in Lyon College. The BC Athletic Department will also be celebration National Girls & Women in Sports Day. Powered by the Women's Sports Foundation, this day raises awareness and acts as a reminder of the positive impact of sports and the continued need to promote gender equality in athletics. The day also is a celebration of the progress that has been made since Title IX was passed in 1972 while acknowledging the work still to be done to attain true equality in sport.

The day will begin with appetizers and a cash bar from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. in the Edwin and Claire Jaenke Alumni Center. All former women's sports alumnae in attendance will then be recognized during halftime of the the women's basketball game. 

The women's game with Lyon will tip at 1 p.m. followed by the men's game. 

Saturday will also see the track teams in action as they head to Jacksonville, IL for the Jim Green Invitational. Events are slated to begin at 10 a.m.
