Blackburn Celebrates Division III Week April 1-April 6

CARLINVILLE, IL – Blackburn College Athletics joins colleges and universities across the country in celebrating NCAA Division III Week April 1-April 6.

Division III Week is a positive opportunity for all individuals associated with a Division III institution to observe and celebrate the impact athletics and student-athletes have on campus and in the surrounding community. Throughout the week, BC will highlight numerous current student-athletes and what the NCAA Division III model means to them.

Blackburn will start their week of celebrating Division III athletics with a cookout Tuesday, April 2 from 11am-1pm that is open to all of the campus community. Yard games will also be featured, weather permitting.

On Thursday, Blackburn will induct their inaugural class into the Chi Alpha Sigma Honor Society. Chi Alpha Sigma recognizes undergraduate college student-athletes who participate in a sport at the varsity intercollegiate level, achieve junior academic standing or higher after their fifth full time semester, and earn a 3.4 and higher cumulative grade point average. It is the first, and only, national scholar-athlete society to honor those four-year collegiate student-athletes who have excelled in both the classroom and in athletic competition.

The week will conclude Saturday where the athletic department will honor all student-athletes who earned St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference All-Conference and All-Academic recognition during the baseball doubleheader.
