Beavers Get First Win In Dominating Fashion

After a heartbreaking extra innings loss in the previous game, the Blackburn College Baseball Team entered Sunday looking to earn their first conference victory of the season.  The Beavers finished off their three game series with Westminster College in dominating fashion winning 12-2 in eight innings. 

After falling behind 2-0, Blackburn rallied back in the third to tie the ball game after a passed ball and a Matt Mokriakow RBI ground out.   Then in the fifth and sixth innings the Beavers tallied a run a piece with the help of and RBI ground out by Donny Fuhrhop and a Westminster error.  Blackburn extended their lead to ten after scoring eight runs in the final two innings off of ten hits.

Blackburn starter Jacob Baalman picked up the win after doing an outstanding job shutting down the Blue Jay offense only surrendering two runs with one base on balls in eight innings.

The Beavers tallied 13 hits on the day, led by Aaron Moody who went 3-5.  Donny Fuhrhop, Doug Matas, Cody Flowers, and Matt Mokriakow also had two hits apiece.

Next the Beavers will travel to GCS Ballpark in St. Louis to battle the Gorloks of Webster University on Wednesday March 26th.  Webster is currently ranked sixth in the nation.
