Jarvis' Home Run Not Enough as Beavers Swept by Spalding

The Blackburn College Baseball Team faced two of the top pitchers in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference on Saturday afternoon and dropped a doubleheader against Spalding University by the scores of 7-0 and 12-1.

In game one, the Beavers managed three hits against Golden Eagle starter Jimi Keating.  Blackburn starter Jake Lochhead pitched well for Blackburn but defensive miscues cost the Beavers in the 7-0 loss.

Game two saw the Golden Eagles jump out to a 7-0 lead in the top of the 1st inning. That was more than enough for Spalding starter Kyle Olliges.  Olliges sported a low 90's fastball that helped strikeout 16 Beavers.  The lone offensive highlight was a tape measure home run by Walter Jarvis which accounted for the lone Blackburn run.

The series will finish tomorrow with an 11 AM single game, Brady Wilkinson will be on the mound for Blackburn.
