Baseball Takes on DI Lindenwood

ST. CHARLES, MO -- Blackburn College Baseball visited NCAA Division I opponent Lindenwood University Wednesday evening. The Beavers ended up falling 13-2 to the Lions.

Junior Andrew Lozano led the way with two hits, including a double. He also added a run batted in as did sophomore Kelton Keran. Freshman Gehrig Loera ended the day scoring both runs for the Beavers.

From the mound, sophomore Connor Partin threw two strikeouts in an inning of work.

Lindenwood scored four runs in the first and third inning to take an 8-0 lead into the top of the fourth inning. Loera opened the inning with a single and advanced to second on a ground out by sophomore Harley Carney. Sophomore Brett Lander grounded out but the batted ball allowed Loera to advance to third. Lozano followed with a double to score Loera and put the Beavers on the board.

The Lions responded with four more runs and the teams entered the sixth inning with the Lions leading 12-1. Loera got on with a walk. He then reached second when freshman Dominic Medrano was hit by a pitch. The pair moved up a base on a passed ball before freshman Luke Ellinger walked. Keran then walked with the bases loaded to let Loera score his second run.

The hosts added another run in the bottom of the inning to take the 13-2 victory.

Blackburn returns to St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play on Saturday as they host Westminster College in a doubleheader.
