Carney Gets Three hits at McKendree

LEBANON, IL – The Blackburn College Baseball team visited NCAA Division II opponent McKendree University on Wednesday but were unable to pull off the upset as they fell 13-3.

Sophomore Harley Carney led the team with three hits and scored a run. Junior RJ Arredondo added a hit and also notched two runs batted.

The Beavers scored all three runs in the third inning. Carney got on with a double before junior Andrew Lozano was hit by a pitch. Junior C.J. Brunaugh followed with a sacrifice bunt to put the runners on second and third. After a walk by senior Zach Knox, Arredondo singled to centerfield which scored Carney and Lozano.

During the next at bat, a passed ball allowed Knox to score. However, McKendree was able to score two runs in each of the first four innings which proved too much to overcome.

Blackburn will return to action Friday as they resume St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play with a doubleheader at Greenville University.
