Beavers Fall to Panthers On Senior Day

It was a familiar story in Carlinville as the Blackburn College Men’s Basketball Team struggled to compete against the Panthers of Greenville College Saturday afternoon.  Blackburn played from behind the entirety of the game, eventually losing 72-56.  Greenville dominated the game in the rebounding department, out-rebounding the Beavers 58-30.  The Panthers also found numerous second chances on offense with a total of 31 offensive rebounds.  On the positive side, Blackburn played a cleaner game than Greenville, only turning the ball over 16 times to Greenville’s 18.

It was also senior day for the Beavers as they honored their lone senior Evan Wells.  Wells went on to have his best shooting performance of his career, shooting a perfect 6-6 from the field to account for his team-high twelve points and four blocks.  Colin Gowin was leading rebounder on the team.  The 5’11 guard went on to snatch a career-high five boards.

The Beavers will travel to Spalding on Monday February 10th and then comeback on Wednesday to play their final home game of the season against Fontbonne University.
