Blackburn Blacks out MacMurray

The Blackburn College Beavers defeated St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference rival MacMurray College, 88-82 on Wednesday night in Carlinville. The Beavers took control from the very start and pushed the lead to as high as 17 and held off the Highlanders to win the conference opener. The game was a "BLACKOUT GAME" where the packed student section was dressed in black and created a great home court atmosphere for the Beavers who are now 3-1 on the season and 1-0 in the SLIAC.

  • The Beavers were led by Duncan King who had 24 Points, 3 assists, and was 4-6 on three point shots, also for the Beavers was senior guard Reed Rusten who had 16 points, 2 assists and 3-7 on three point shots, the final star for the Beavers was senior center Malcolm Scott with 16 points, 5 rebounds and 7-11 on field goals. 
  • As for the Highlanders, they were led by senior guard Kendall Davis with 17 points, 2 assists, and 32 minutes of play, Brent Long led the Highlanders with 30 points and eight rebounds.

  • A conference matchup against Fontbonne University this Saturday in St. Louis at 3:00pm.
