Beavers Slip Away with Win in Exciting Match Against Spalding

The Blackburn Men’s Basketball team had a huge conference win against the Golden Eagles on Saturday, January 7th. The Beavers defeated Spalding 71-67 after a hard fought battle.

 

1st Half: Chanz Aldridge came out hot for The Beavers, scoring five points within the first three minutes. Just six minutes into the game The Beavers were up 10 and trying to stretch the lead. However, the Golden Eagles would fight back, with just six minutes remaining The Beavers lead by only one point. The two teams kept battling it out for the rest of the

 

2nd Half: The Golden eagles took an early lead in the second half within the first two minutes. The Beavers would tie the game up with 10 minutes left in the game. The two teams went back and forth for the rest of the game. Cameron Johsnon hit two clutch free throws to put The Beavers up by one. Izayah Talmadge had a clutch steal in the last minute that led to Eliot Harrison making a layup to put the Beavers up by three. Chanz Aldridge would ice the game with seven seconds left putting The Beavers up by five. The Beavers won with the final score being 71-67.

 

Chanz Aldridge was the leading scorer for The Beavers, followed by Cameron Johsnon who had thirteen points. Troy Cole Jr. had a good defensive showing, recording 7 rebounds.

 

The Beavers move to an overall record of 5 and 8 and 1 and 1 in conference.The Beavers play at home Wednesday, January 11 against Eureka College. The Game is set to tip off at 7:30 p.m.
