The Blackburn College Men's Basketball team took on the Webster Gorloks at home for their St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference game but fell short of the Gorloks 78-70.
The Beavers were led by sophomore Darius Duff with 18 points while freshman Odis Grissom and senior Izayah Talmadge with 9 points apiece. Sophomore Cameron Johnson grabbed 6 rebounds for the Beavers with senior Zach Kelsey not far behind with 5 rebounds.
BC started out with a layup by Duff, followed by an Talmadge jumper, and another layup by Duff. The Beavers were ahead 14-13 when sophomore Cayden Paquette hit his first three of the game. Two free throws from Talmadge put BC up 22-19 with about three minutes left until halftime, but the guest rallied to take a 32-29 lead into the break.
Grissom sank two free throws to get the Beavers down by only 5 early in the second half, but were unable to narrow the gap as Webster captured the SLIAC win.
The Beavers move to 5-9 overall and 4-3 in Conference. The Beavers return to action Saturday as they host Principia College Saturday.
