Talmadge's Career High 29 Points Not Enough to Stop Grinnell

Blackburn College Senior Guard Izayah Talmadge scored a career-high 29 points but the Beavers were beaten by Grinnell College, 125-91 on Saturday afternoon in Carlinville.  The Beavers turned the ball over 31 times on the afternoon and the Pioneers grabbed 22 offensive rebounds for the storylines of the game.  The Beavers got off to a good start leading 26-19 with 11:16 left in the first half.  Over the next four minutes the Pioneers went on a 14-2 run to grab a 33-28 lead with 7:05 to go in the half.  Grinnell steadily pulled away taking a 61-50 lead at halftime.

The Pioneers lead climbed to 18 in the first four minutes of the second half taking a 72-54 lead with 16:10 to play.  Blackburn cut the lead to ten points three different times but could not get any closer.  Grinnell moves to 9-2 on the season while the Beavers fall to 4-7.

Joining Talmadge in double figures for Blackburn were Zach Kelsey and Brody Barr with 12 points and Darius Duff and Cameron Johnson with ten apiece.  Grinnell was led in scoring by Kai Te Huki who matched Talmadge's total of 29 points.

Blackburn shot 64 percent from the field on the afternoon but the turnovers and second chance points by Grinnell made it impossible to overcome.
