White Finishes Fourth in First Golf Tournament of the Season

Blackburn Men's and Women's golf competed in the Iowa Wesleyan Tiger Classic on Tuesday, March 30th. The tournament took place in Fort Madison, Iowa at Sheaffer Memorial Golf Course.

 

The Men's team had four golfer compete Senior Isaac Garret (Glen Carbon, Illinois / Edwardsville), Junior Thomas White ( Red Bud / Illinois, Red Bud), Freshman Alex Kueker (Red Bud, Illinois / Red bud), and Freshman Drew Dixon (Delavan, Illinois / Delavan). 

 

The Women's team had two golfers compete Sophomore Sakura Fagan (Petersburg, Illinois / Porta) and Sophomore Miriam Wall-Uddin (Jacksonville, Illinois / Routt). 

 

On a windy cool day White finished with the fourth best score overall. He was +4 on the day shooting a 76. Garret followed with a score of 81 which was +9. Kueker would shoot a 83 for his first collegiate match. Dixon would shoot a 112 for Blackburn. 



When asked about how it felt to back competing White stated, " It felt refreshing to get back and play after not being able to last spring due to covid, we have a great young team and a lot of potential to compete. I wanted to compete and place in the top five today in tough conditions and I achieved it with fourth place. All around good day for Blackburn Golf."

 

UP NEXT: The two teams will compete Saturday, April 3rd In Godfrey, Illinois. Tee-time will be 10:30.
