Early Kohawk Goal Sinks Beavers

The visiting Coe College Kahoks struck quickly on Wednesday afternoon in Carlinville and made that goal stand in defeating the Blackburn Beavers 1-0 in the Beavers final non-conference match of the season.  Sarah Fathallah scored an unassisted goal at the 6:36 mark of the first half for the contests only score.  Freshman Blackburn goalkeeper Nicole Kelly saved 15 of the 32 shots that were taken by Coe.

The backline of defense for Blackburn battled all afternoon to keep the Beavers in the game as the visiting Kohawks controlled much of the contest. Alexis Richie, Meghan Sykora and Jourdin McFarland were heavily involved in the action keeping the margin at one. Coe improves to 4-4 on the season.

Blackburn is now 5-5 on the season and will travel to Fulton, Missouri to open St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action at Westminster College.
